We Made It! Lame Drivers Puppy Video on YouTube

We also made it to SXSW and I’m gonna tell you all about the 5 (or maybe more like 4 and a half) shows that we played in the next post, but first I just wanted to share this with you:

it’s a Creative Commons-licensed video of some cute dogs playing (looks like they’re gonna eat each other!) made with the olde Lame Drivers song “Excess” as part of the soundtrack. “Excess” featured Matt LeMay on drums channeling Ride, and I’m pretty sure that Joe Posner played bass, there’s some Kevin Sparks guitar in there. It’s a Cruisin’ Classic circa 2006. “Excess” had just gone up on the Free Music Archive along with a few other tracks off of our Creative Commons (BY-NC-SA)-licensed Cruisin’ Classics 2003-2010 retrospective, and it’s so cool that somebody found it and made this video the very next day!

We hope to see/hear Lame Drivers music soundtracking many more puppy videos, as well as kitty videos, snake videos, and human baby videos.

Bid Lame Drivers farewell on our trip to hell i mean SXSW

gr8 show THURSDAY at CAKE SHOP, 152 Ludlow St NYC w/ Human Resources, Sundelles, Sweet Bulbs, Yvette

We’ll be playin new songs as always plus also bringing back old songs like Demondzblood (mp3) by request from Kelli who books Meat Town New Brunswick (where we play on Saturday).  That song (and a few others) bein played multiple times on WFMU off a CD-R copy of Cruisin Classics 2003-2010. The 27-track compilation was limited to 10 physical CD-R’s, but you can download it as many times as you want over here.

Been listening to Human Resources a bunch lately…you can too! That’s totally “poppoid” sez Byron Coley in Wire Megazing

….and here’s the much more meaty flyer for the March 5th show at Meat Town New Brunswick!

What Is The Internet?

“Speaking of very good 90s college rock, Lame Drivers are an interesting band.  No doubt, they are good.  Their live show is tight, concise, and would make Robert Pollard smile.  They’ve been around on the scene for so long, I really feel that they have not received the recognition they deserve from the Internet music world at large.  It’s almost as if they came along ten years too late.  I can only imagine that if this were 1995 they’d have a pretty big record deal and be getting interviewed by Matt Pinfield on MTV.  But they’re not.  Did anyone watch the new Fred Armisen sketch show, Portlandia?  It opens with a hilarious sketch about a place where the 90s are still alive: Portland.  That sketch is EXACTLY how Lame Drivers feels to me.  It’s a subtle change in how cool is perceived since then that’s difficult to articulate, but Armisen hits the nail on the head.” (New York Rock Market)

Joe plays the bass

Thanks for the kind words, Internet music blog, and more importantly thanks for documenting the show we put together at The Delancey last Thursday Jan 13th! We booked it from scratch just like last time, so we once again got to see + hear some of our favorite music acts: Eola (Edwin of Tonstartssbandht), Harpoon Forever (thanks for letting me borrow your guitar, Alex!), Cool World, plus killa DJ sets by Rock N Roll James (Violet Times) + DJ The-Glide (Friendship Bracelet).

Despite the fun times and free vodka… but let us NEVER FORGET how the show ended: with VIOLENCE when our gracefully moshing friend Jared was thrown out and beaten by a security guard!
